Dr João Cabral
Dr João Cabral is a Reader in Soft Matter in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. Previously, he was a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA (2002-2005), visiting scholar at Fudan University (2008), Shanghai, and a visiting professor at the Institute for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago (2014-2015). He obtained his first degree in Physics (IST, Lisbon Portugal) and PhD at Imperial College London.
His research interests are in experimental polymer, colloid and interfacial science, nanocomposites, photovoltaics, membranes, self-assembly of complex fluids, and microfluidics, employing extensively scattering of light, X-rays and neutrons. Recent awards include the 2016 RSC/SCI McBain medal. He currently also serves on the Scientific Council of the Institut Laue Langevin (Grenoble).
