[Former PPARC Particle Physics and Astronomy Roadmap]

PPARC Projects

Printer-friendly version of page|

ASTRONOMY: James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii, at sunset
PARTICLE PHYSICS: The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) Detector (with plug open). (Fermilab)
PARTICLE ASTROPHYSICS: A simulation of the formation of the large-scale structure in the Universe using one billion particles to represent the dark matter. (Virgo simulation)
SOLAR SYSTEM SCIENCE: Saturn’s A Ring From the Inside Out in the ultraviolet. (NASA/JPL/University of Colorado)
e-SCIENCE: Simulation of a lead-lead collision in the ALICE detector. (CERN)

The listing of a possible future project in the road map is not an indication that PPARC intends to participate in that project nor is the absence of a project an indication that PPARC has decided not to participate. However, the future projects listed in the Road Map are a guide to those projects which Science Committee regards as the current likely options.

The Question/Project Matrix shows current, future and possible new projects against the scienctific questions they are designed to address.
