Are you a Physical scientist, engineer, or STFC facility user with a passion for public engagement and outreach. If so then the “INTERACT” symposium is for you! This is a one day opportunity for you to share your experiences, gain new skills, learn new ways to engage with your audiences, gain practical experience and see what else is out there that can help you develop and deliver high quality engagement.

STFC, Institute of Physics (IOP) and South East Physics network (SEPnet) are organising a day conference in Birmingham that promises to be both useful and fun!

We want to help you share your enthusiasm for science so come along to this lively one day event that offers you the opportunity to:

  • be inspired by experienced outreach/public engagement champions
  • share your experience and good practice
  • take part in hands on interactive workshops and parallel sessions
  • see what resources are out there to help you in the marketplace showcasing engagement in practice.

The event will focus on the following themes:

  • evaluation and impact
  • reaching traditionally hard-to-engage/underserved audiences
  • schools outreach
  • sharing both good practice and past mistakes.

Do you want to share your work with others? Then you can offer a workshop or showcase your engagement work in an exhibition area.

The deadline for registration is 30 June 2017. Please register for the conference here.

The conference is free to attend and STFC will contribute reasonable travelling expenses for early career STFC funded researchers to attend. To see if you are eligible please contact the Public Engagement team.

We look forward to seeing you there!
