UK/China co-authored publications.
The RCUK international strategy for research identifies China as the most important country in which UK researchers should develop new research collaborations. To foster research collaborations, RCUK opened an office in China in October 2007.
The RCUK China Office have published a report analyzing joint UK-China co-authored research papers which shows STFC Rutherford Appleton seventh among UK institutions by the volume of papers that have Chinese co-authors, just behind Oxford University and ahead of Cambridge University.
STFC e-Science is contributing to this productive international relationship through its membership of the EU funded ECHOgrid project which supports European-Chinese collaboration in research on computing Grids. Through ECHOgrid STFC RAL is currently hosting a Chinese fellow for six months, and is jointly organizing the Second International ECHOgrid Conference which will take place in Shenzhen, China, on 24-26 October 2008, in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Grid and Cooperative Computing (GCC 2008).
