Diana Chaloner is the Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) for STFC, leading on all people-related matters ensuring the organisation is able to deliver its corporate objectives.
She is a member of Executive Board and also sits on the Change Board for Research Councils UK.
She started her HR career at Kent County Council whilst studying for her professional qualification, culminating in providing the HR support to the Local Government re-organisation of Kent into two counties.
Diana was an HR Director at the Met Office and then the Environment Agency (EA), taking on a much more strategic role leading HR, specialising in transformational change supporting the reorganisation of both the EA and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) impacting 12,000 people and restructuring the roles of 9,000 people amongst other large scale change.
During this time Diana also worked in Ukraine supporting the government in civil service reform and spent some time on a secondment to BIS (now the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) to deliver a new HR model for 14 of its arm’s length body organisations.
