Detector Systems Centre
The Technology Department's expertise in the design, manufacture and operation of advanced detectors is managed by the Detector Systems Centre (DSC).
The DSC's mission is to maximise the economic and scientific impact of STFC's detector technology research. This takes the form of developing new and innovative detector designs, ensuring efficient knowledge transfer between industry and academia and providing our industrial and academic partners with access to a wide range of world-class sensor systems.
The DSC brings together over 100 of the STFC's brightest scientists and engineers to work on a wide range of economically important applications. Amongst others, this includes healthcare, climate change, environmental issues and security. At the same time, work continues to maintain our cutting edge position in the design of sensors for scientific applications.
The Centre is based at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, and at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus in Cheshire. Both sites have a rich heritage of world-class scientific research, and having bases in these critical locations allows DSC staff to draw on a wealth of accumulated knowledge and experience.
Further information on the Detector Systems Centre, including a description of our capabilities and contact details, may be found on the DSC website (link opens in a new window).
