Muon Ionisation Cooling
MICE stands for the Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment and is a technology demonstrator for one of the components of a neutrino factory. For more information about the MICE experiment visit the MICE website (link opens in a new window).
The Cryogenics and Magnetics group is involved in several aspects of the MICE experiment:
- Development of the cryogenic system
- Procurement of the Absorber and Focus Coil Module (with Oxford University)
- Development and manufacture of the hydrogen delivery system
- Installation and commissioning of the decay solenoid and refrigerator
