STFC SHE Policies
Health and Safety
"STFC SHE Management systems have developed and improved significantly over the past few years. We have issued new codes, actively promoted the sharing of learning from incidents, set up the SHE websites, have a better understanding of SHE performance – both injuries and near misses and most recently established an STFC wide annual H&S improvement plan. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Awards show that we are moving in the right direction and while it is early days we are seeing the fruits of this investment with reduced injury numbers in recent years.
While this is good news, we cannot afford to become complacent in our management of safety - even maintaining current performance will require management leadership, continuous improvement and constant vigilance from us all."
Prof. John Womersley, Chief Executive Officer, Science and Technology Facilities Council.
In line with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 the STFC has developed and communicated its Health and Safety (H&S) Policy to staff.
|STFC Health and Safety Policy
This policy outlines the STFC's objective to provide and maintain, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for its staff, together with effective management of Health and Safety risks.
Underpinning this policy the STFC has developed SHE Codes describing the controls for managing the major H&S hazards. STFC SHE Codes can be found in the 'Codes' section of this website.
A separate Health and Safety policy exists for STFC Innovations Ltd.
