STFC Executive meeting
Outcomes of the proposal
1. Programme Manager decides route of application
Generally, for proposals below £500k, the applicant must contact the relevant Programme Manager of STFC to discuss the proposed programme. Once the Programme Manager agrees, the applicant is requested to send a proposal to PPRP - Option 2. In some cases the Programme Manager may ask the applicant to submit a Statement of Interest (SOI) Option 1.
2. SOI
A Statement of Interest (SOI) must be filled in for initial evaluation. This document details the full economic cost of the proposed programme. The SOI is sent to the PPAN committee for review.
3. PPAN Meeting
During the PPAN meeting, the SOI is reviewed. If agreed by PPAN, the applicant will be asked to submit a comprehensive proposal to PPRP.
4. Proposal Submission to PPRP
The proposal along with the necessary forms must be submitted via the electronic submission system (JeS) to PPRP by the submission deadline (commercial applicants must submit by email). Each proposal is assessed by external referees and PPRP members. Referees submit a review of the proposal which is sent to the applicant to respond to the comments.
5. PPRP (PRD) Meeting
The PPRP meeting is held to assess the proposal and question the applicant by the Panel. The meeting consists of an open session where members of the public can attend, and a closed session.
6. PRD Report
A report from the PPRP meeting is sent to the STFC Executive.
7. STFC Executive Meeting

8. Outcome of Proposal
After discussion with the PPRP Chair and Deputy Chair and considering the recommendations of PRD report, the STFC Executive will decide on the funding outcome of the proposal.
9. Inform Applicant via Feedback Letter
The PPRP SecreWhen an SOI is rejected, the PPAN Secretary will inform the applicant via a feedback letter documenting the reason for rejection.
