As a non-departmental public body (NDPB) of UK Central Government STFC is subject to disclosure of information it holds, upon written requests made under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act 2000. Information is provided unless subject to exemption under the FoI Act and once provided is considered to be “In the Public Domain” and freely available to all.
In order to facilitate access, and in line with its policy of transparency, STFC is now publishing its responses into the public domain via its website (personal data of applicants has been redacted).

STFC Energy usage
Freedom of information requests received by STFC indicate that there is a public interest in what we spend and how we spend it, particularly where there may be environmental concerns. As a result, we are publishing information about our electricity and gas usage. All the contracts are provided via a Government Framework Agreement.
Copies of the electricity and gas bills related to February 2013 usage for the Science and Technology Facilities Council UK sites. (Note that there are also some adjusting credits and replacement invoices.) These are correct to April 15th, but there is no guarantee that there will not be further reissues in future.

EDF supply electricity to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Daresbury sites on a flexible tariff for electricity half-hourly.
British Gas supply gas to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on a flexible tariff. This information is unfortunately unavailable for the remaining sites at present but we will endeavour to provide this at a later date.
