** The IPS closing dates that were scheduled for July and October have been cancelled. Further information regarding the next closing date will be communicated via this website as soon as it has been confirmed. **
IPS (Innovations Partnership Scheme) Fellowships provide the opportunity to spend up to four years focused on transferring technologies, developed through STFC funded research, to industry and other academic disciplines.
IPS Awards
IPS Fellowship closing dates are quarterly each year.
Please note, with immediate effect no applications will be accepted after the published closing date. Only complete applications will be accepted and appropriate supporting letters must be submitted with the application.
The limit for the length of the Case for Support is 6 pages and any applications exceeding this will not be accepted.
The focus of IPS Fellowships is:
- transferring the technologies developed through the Council research funding to industry;
- transferring the technologies developed through Council research funding to other academic disciplines;
- developing their institution's capacity for knowledge transfer from particle physics and astronomy;
- engaging with industry to identify R&D opportunities for technologies that may enable the Council mission.
The IPS Fellowships, which may be held for up to 4 years, will major on commercial exploitation of technologies and are not research oriented.
It is anticipated that there will be a number of project partners who will contribute financially to the project. STFC expect any application for funding will be up to a maximum of 50% contribution of the total cost of the project. The total project cost for the IPS Fellowships is therefore the sum of the contributions from the project partners and the fEC value of the award sought from STFC. The application to the Council will be for a specific role and if the application is successful, the host institution will be responsible for the selection and appointment of the Fellow.
