STFC provides funding for Research Grants, Fellowships and Studentships. It also gives awards for Science in Society activities as well as contracts to Industry under specified calls.
When preparing an application to STFC, please take account of the closing date for the call to which you are applying. Your completed proposal, together with the case for support and other relevant documents, should be submitted by the specified closing date. If you miss the call deadline then STFC may not accept your proposal. Please ensure that you have selected the correct scheme and call on the
Je-S System (link opens in a new window) before beginning your proposal.
Current and up-coming calls
**This is the date from which you will be able to select the call in the Project details screen on Je-S. You will not be able to start completing your proposal until then.
Closing date deadlines
As a result of consultation with Research Organisations (ROs) the Research Councils* have agreed a common deadline submission time of 4.00pm on the advertised closing date. This time covers all calls and closing dates, except for those that are "open", for the Research Councils* and also other funders that use the Je-S System (link opens in a new window).
The time was chosen to give ROs sufficient time to submit proposals but provide an hour of support time past the deadline should problems arise. This change has been made as a direct result of feedback from ROs and aims to provided consistency and clarity. Closing dates will be strictly enforced.
Please note that STFC does not accept submission of hardcopy proposals (except for some Science in Society schemes). All proposal submissions should be made using the Je-S System (link opens in a new window).
