Work experience

One of STFC's main objectives is to inspire young people's interest in science. At the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), over 60 students per year participate in the one or two-week work experience placements available. Most participants come from local schools, and are engaged in the first year of their GCSEs.

Students are offered work experience positions dealing with a range of areas, from neutron scattering at ISIS to lasers at the Central Laser Facility and from computing to space science.
