Disability equality scheme
STFC's policy on Equality and Diversity specifically requires the fair treatment of individuals irrespective of their disability.
In the UK, the Disability Rights Commission has published a Statutory Code of Practice entitled "The Duty to Promote Disability Equality". This describes what steps must be taken to comply fully with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005. The Research Councils, including STFC, are classed as public authorities with 'general' and 'specific' duties. This document, together with its action plan, constitutes STFC's "Disability Equality Scheme" and details its approach to:-
- The Scheme itself
- Involvement and Consultation
- Impact Assessments
- Information Gathering
- Publication
- Review
