Accelerator Strategy Board (ASB)
This board provides advice to the STFC Science Board and Executive on all aspects of accelerator science and technology.
Terms of reference
In the context of the national and international activity on accelerator science and technology, the Board will:
- advise STFC in the development and maintenance of a long-term overall accelerator strategy and on priorities for its accelerator programmes
- provide regular oversight and review of the existing STFC programme in accelerator science and technology
- recommend an accelerator investment plan, taking into account the agreed programme priorities, synergies between areas and the long term science strategy
- consider possible new areas of activity, new collaborations and partnerships, giving advice on their strategic importance and the level of resources required to deliver them
- advise STFC on the potential applications of proposed and current activities in accelerator science and technology
- consider and advise on training requirements and opportunities to build capacity in key areas
- provide appropriate inputs to the STFC’s agreed programme priorities through the STFC programmatic review process or undertake other reviews, as required
Mode of operation
The Committee will meet as needed but at least twice a year. Each member will be appointed for one year in the first instance with the possibility of renewal.
The chair of ASB will report on its activities in person to Science Board.
The board’s written reports will be provided to the Science Board and STFC Executive.
The STFC Science Programme Office will provide secretarial support and the ASB secretary.
