Chairs for new STFC Advisory Panels
STFC has appointed the five new Chairs of the Advisory Panels to the
Particle Physics, Astronomy and Nuclear Physics (PPAN) Science Committee. The
Advisory Panels have been set up to develop and maintain research roadmaps in
their areas and to act as two way conduits of communication between STFC, PPAN
and the research communities.
The five Advisory Panels and their Chairs are as follows:
- Particle Physics Advisory Panel (PPAP)
Chair - Professor Philip Burrows, University of Oxford
- Nuclear Physics Advisory Panel (NPAP)
Chair - Professor Martin Freer, University of Birmingham
- Particle Astrophysics Advisory Panel (PAAP)
Chair - Professor Philip Mauskopf, Cardiff University
- Near Universe Advisory Panel (NUAP) - covering those parts of the astronomy
and space science programmes concerned with the sun, solar system and the
properties of objects within our galaxy
Chair - Professor Michele Dougherty, Imperial College
- Far Universe Advisory Panel (FUAP) - covering those parts of the astronomy
and space science programmes concerned with the global properties of our
galaxy, with objects beyond our galaxy, and with cosmology
Chair - Professor Bob Nichol, University of Portsmouth
STFC is in the process of appointing the other panel members and the full
