Statement on engaging with stakeholders in the Comprehensive Spending Review
The Council of the Science and Technology Facilities Council is developing a range of robust proposals for consideration by Government in the next spending review. The process of developing these scenarios will be overseen by STFC’s Council with input from the wider community, and will build on the extensive advice received during last year’s prioritisation exercise.
STFC will obtain the maximum possible input from the community to the process. However as priorities for the next spending round will form advice to Government there will be a degree of confidentiality to our discussions with the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. Within these constraints, and a necessarily uncertain planning timeframe, Council will seek confidential input from representative groups of the community, including our Science Board and advisory bodies, Learned Societies, Universities, users and others.
Council will also seek to provide regular updates on progress to the community, taking into account the confidential nature of the planning process.
