Dame Professor Julia Goodfellow's biography

Dame Julia Goodfellow is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent and took up her post in September 2007. She is Chair of the British Science Association and Trustee of a number of organisations including STEMNET and the Daphne Jackson Trust. She is a member of the Council for Science and Technology. She was also elected to the Board of UniversitiesUK to serve from 01 August 2010 to 31 July 2013.

Her scientific studies pioneered the use of computational methods to study the structures of large biologically important molecules and used this to probe their function and dynamics.

Dame Julia was previously Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). She was awarded a CBE in 2001 and a DBE for her services to science in 2010.
