Health and safety

“The STFC is developing its Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Management systems to facilitate cutting edge science and develop world leading technology – these will not be achieved without high standards of SHE management, demonstrable leadership and the personal commitment of us all.

Our SHE Management systems have developed and improved significantly over the past few years with many new codes, actively sharing learning from incidents, new SHE websites and better understanding of SHE performance – injuries and near misses. Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) President’s Awards for our safety management system give assurance that we are moving in the right direction – however we can not afford to be complacent - even maintaining current performance will require management leadership, continuous improvement and constant vigilance from us all.”

Prof Keith Mason, STFC Chief Executive
